Director of System Integrations

Salary: $170,000 – 190,000 annually + Bonus

Currently, we are seeking a seasoned Director of System Integrations who will be a key leader of the Technology team with broad technical skills, deep industry knowledge, and unparalleled business acumen.

Although no two days will be exactly the same, your main focus will be running our Data Integration, Application & API integration, Data integrity and governance integration function from a product, business, and technical perspective.

The role includes building a strategic API platform that functions as the integration fabric for existing as well as newly-acquired systems. This person will serve as a strategic voice within the greater Technology organization including Product, Engineering, Quality, and Design.

This is a highly visible role that will ensure the success of the organization by developing and executing innovative and highly efficient methodologies to ensure a seamless integration process both internally and externally.

What you’ll do:

  • Incorporate new systems into our architecture, so as to meet standards for performance and durability in a fast-paced and rapidly growing e-commerce organization, while enhancing and optimizing these systems.
    • With acquisition candidates: identify roadblocks to smooth post-acquisition integration, and size integration efforts.
    • With newly acquired companies: lead the integration process, and direct work across your own team and the tech team of the new arrival.
  • Across our core business and our existing family of business units, whether they were acquired or incubated internally: create and execute and roadmap focused on refactoring for a balance of speed and efficiency.
  • Work with the EVP of Infrastructure and Technical Services and the CTO to develop effective and meaningful KPIs for software and systems throughout the company.
  • Understand the broader API, ETL and ESB ecosystems and work across application teams to build plans for the supportability, migration and evolution of existing services.
  • Drive and accomplish the vision for API, ETL and ESB platforms and Integration.
  • Build, mentor, and grow a distributed team of engineers and technical leaders responsible for building and maintaining the Data Integration, Application & API integration, Data integrity and governance of which our existing and newly acquired stakeholders rely.
  • Empower a team of highly productive engineers to make decisions and execute.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal customers to solve problems and facilitate adoption of API standards and tooling.
  • Lead and influence key integration decisions from both business and technical perspectives.
  • Balance project delivery requirements amidst operational challenges. Deliver results with an agile approach.
  • Managing a diverse portfolio of integrations with a focus on sustainability and supportability.
  • Overseeing the execution of new integrations by our internal development team while being able to roll up your sleeves to support your team.
  • Develop strong stakeholder relationships with Engineering, Product, Sales, Success and IT teams and maintain effective communication channels.

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum of ten years of overall software engineering experience with a minimum of five years of engineering leadership within the field of Software Integration, which includes working with modern API, ETL and ESB platforms such as Talend or MuleSoft.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Information Systems is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with aspects of defining integration strategy, delivery, discussions with customers, with a strong understanding in various integration architecture methodologies.
  • Technical experience in integration patterns, governance, security, and information modeling that pertains to integration and experience in the promotion of and delivery of API-first initiatives and delivery upon microservices and service mesh patterns.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Established people management skills with the ability to drive individuals and team to realize their full potential.
  • Proficiency in executing software projects in an Agile Environment using tools such as Jira.
  • Demonstrated leadership and influence skills including ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional management without formal reporting relationship.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, maturity and good judgment and capability of communicating with a diverse range of individuals. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the enterprise.
  • Good understanding of web application development using HTTP REST, software standards, software development life cycle and methodologies.
  • Direct experience with developing SOAP and RESTful web services.
  • Experience developing web services, messaging layer using REST, XML, SOAP, WSDL, JSON, etc.
  • Knowledge of relational databases – MySQL, MSSQL, Dynamo
