Pay range for this position is $95,000 to $130,000 depending on experience

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This individual will, on a daily basis, perform the tasks associated with Systems Administration and Information Systems Security as outlined by the relevant government entities we contract with. This individual will provide all levels of technology support to local and remote offices, troubleshoot network, server, phone, desktop, and printer problems. Perform configuration changes to the network and other related duties as required or assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Systems and IT Support:

  • Ensure optimal utilization and continuing operation of technology; troubleshoots network, server, phone, desktop, and printer problems.
  • Coordinates hardware maintenance and repair activities and performs routine desktop set-up and maintenance.
  • Investigate, test, install and upgrade new hardware/software products for desktops and servers.
  • Troubleshoot desktop applications and installs computer peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and provide accurate, creative solutions to technical problems on servers and desktops while ensuring minimum downtime and user satisfaction.
  • Encourage employees to use local area network best practices and designs and conducts formal training classes as necessary. Periodic compliance checks as necessary.
  • Assist management with assessment of hardware and software needs. Research new developments to determine impact and forward recommendations for implementation of future IT requirements.
  • Maintain user accounts, passwords, etc. in MS Exchange and Active Directory.
  • Administer back-up and restore procedures managing off-site and on-site tape storage.
  • Secures systems by developing system access, monitoring, control and evaluation methods.
  • Create and maintain a rigid disaster recovery plan.
  • Maintain professional knowledge on technology changes, issues, trends, advances by attending courses/meetings/site visits/conferences/reading magazines, newsletters, etc.
  • Protect systems against virus/spam attacks by regularly updating and scanning for antivirus/spam.
  • Maintain software licenses, ensure company is utilizing non-pirated software at all locations.

Information Systems Security

  • Develop and maintain an effective US Government approved Information Systems (IS) security program for the electronic processing of classified information.
  • Develop system security plans, submit for government accreditation and maintain such ensuring compliance with contractual security requirements.
  • Create and institute measures in order to safeguard sensitive information within a network.
  • Research, develop, implement, test and review an organization's information security in order to protect information and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Inform users about security measures, explain potential threats, install software, implement security measures and monitor networks.
  • Responsible for gathering information necessary to maintain security and establish functioning external barriers such as firewalls and other security measures.
  • Define, create and maintain the documentation for certification and accreditation of each information system in accordance with government requirements
  • Assess the impacts on system modifications and technological advances.
  • Review systems in order to identify potential security weaknesses, recommend improvements to amend vulnerabilities, implement changes and document upgrades.
  • In conjunction with the FSO, responsible for the Information Security program that includes the administering Prime and Subcontract Security Classification Specifications, classified material control and accountability, classified material audits.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of Information Systems (IS) security policy changes and communicate that information back to the FSO and employees.
  • Prepares manuals outlining regulations, and establishes procedures for handling, storing, and keeping IT records, and for granting personnel and visitors access to restricted IT records and materials.
  • Because of the constant developing nature of information systems and cyber-attacks, the IT Technology Support Specialist must be committed to continuous learning and system development.
  • Work with 3rd party companies and our parent company for support when needed.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience
  • Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification
  • Be familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Exchange 2010 & Windows Server 2010 R2.
  • Proficiency in Windows and MS Office Applications
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Excellent computer skills, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel overseas
  • Excellent planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Works independently
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks
  • Courteous, professional, diplomatic. High level of confidentiality
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have an active Department of Defense secret security clearance

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Working knowledge of Cisco Phone Systems and Firewalls (Sonicwall)
